A man aged in his thirties was injured after being stabbed twice this morning, Friday 2nd October, at around 00:30 in Guardamar del Segura. The joint action of the Local Police and the Guardia Civil made it possible to arrest the suspected perpetrator a few minutes after the assault and to recover the weapon utilised.
The unprovoked attack from behind took place on Calle Crevillent as the victim was returning home after leaving the gymnasium. According to the available information, the assailant approached from behind and inflicted two stab wounds.
Emergency services transferred the injured man to hospital. His condition is not serious, although the exact extent of the injuries is not recorded.
The Local Police and the Guardia Civil intervened jointly after receiving a 112 alert regarding a knife attack. While the victim was being attended to, both forces deployed an operation that allowed officers to locate and detain the suspect within a few minutes.
According to the data gathered following his arrest, there was apparently no prior relationship between the assailant and the victim, and the attack was random. The detained individual stated that he supposedly heard voices or sounds and that these indicated to him that he should stab someone.
The suspected perpetrator, who has been residing in the municipality for a few months, had already been identified the previous week over some graffiti.
