Local groups have pointed out that they have denounced “on several occasions the eviction processes of families occupying homes originating from Banco Sabadell, subsequently acquired by companies linked to investment funds such as Cerberus and Promontoria, in the face of the inaction of the local and state government”.
Thus, they demand “the suspension of this enforcement in virtue of the application of the decree” approved yesterday, Tuesday 6th October, by the Council of Ministers, “given that the family possesses a vulnerability certificate, the property is held by a legal entity, there is no housing alternative, and they present incomes lower than the IPREM”.
Otherwise, they have announced “a large mobilisation to prevent this eviction” and have warned that they “will not” tolerate “administrations prioritising the interests of speculators over the dignity of families in the city”. These unions have further noted that “city housing resources are distributed among high-ranking council officials” and that “housing under the Vive Plan, mostly managed by private developers, runs the risk of ending up in the hands of investors, rentiers, and speculators, further choking the Alicante population”.
Similarly, they have also criticised the “lamentable functioning” that, in their view, characterises the Valencian Housing and Land Entity (EVHA) and have announced “future protest actions”.
