A two-year-old boy was found walking alone in the street by a neighbour after escaping unnoticed from the Los Peques de San Isidro municipal nursery school. Staff members only realised the toddler was missing during nap time, despite internal records logging that the child was asleep during the period he was found outside. The local mayor informed the parents of the incident before they were reunited with their son, and on the same day, San Isidro Town Council approved a 16,915 euro contract to install exterior fencing around the facility.
A two-year-old boy managed to walk out of the municipal nursery school in San Isidro completely undetected by staff members, sparking major concern after he was discovered wandering alone in the street by a local resident.
The incident took place shortly before 3:00 pm on 8 October at the Los Peques de San Isidro municipal nursery. The young boy was spotted walking unattended along the public street by a neighbour, who intervened immediately and returned the child to the educational centre.
Following the discovery, the child’s parents received a WhatsApp message requesting that they attend a meeting with the Mayor of San Isidro. It was during this meeting with the mayor that the parents were formally notified of the escape, prior to being allowed to see their son.
Staff at the nursery explained that they only realised the child was absent during afternoon nap time. However, workers were unable to clarify whether an access door had accidentally been left open or if the two-year-old had managed to open it by himself.
The premises lacked interior security cameras, meaning there was no video footage available to clarify how the toddler exited the building. Furthermore, official logs at the centre recorded the boy as being asleep during the exact period he was found out in the street.
On the very same day the escape occurred, San Isidro Town Council approved a contract valued at 16,915 euro to construct fencing around the exterior areas of the nursery school.
