Orihuela Town Council, through the Department of Commerce led by Vicente Pina, has organised three days of street-level activities to commemorate Local Trade Day, which is celebrated every 25th October. The programme will take place between Thursday 22nd and Saturday 24th October in different areas of the municipality, featuring events aimed particularly at family audiences with the objective of promoting local commerce.
The activities will take place from 17:00 to 20:00 hours and will tour three zones of the city, combining children’s workshops, attractions, music, entertainment and sporting proposals. The initiative seeks to invigorate commercial streets and highlight the role of local establishments in the economic and social activity of the municipality.
The Councillor for Commerce, Vicente Pina, explained that with this initiative the Town Council intends to highlight the role that our businesses play in the daily life of Orihuela and bring an entertainment proposal to enjoy as a family to its streets and squares. Likewise, he has encouraged neighbours and visitors to participate in the activities and to bet on local commerce, which gives life and employment to our city.
The programme will begin on Thursday 22nd October at Plaza Nueva and Centuria Romana, where younger children can participate in children’s workshops and enjoy inflatables supervised by monitors. The day will also feature ambient music and entertainment activities to complete the leisure offer.
On Friday 23rd October, the activities will move to Calle Mayor and Patriarca Antioquía, with proposals including a 360-degree photocall, a giant piano and a track with an LED robot. In addition, children’s workshops will be organised and there will be music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.
The final day will be held on Saturday 24th October at Parque Severo Ochoa, where sport will be one of the main protagonists. Attendees will have the opportunity to practise 3×3 basketball, archery and speedball, in an afternoon that will also include a 360-degree photocall, storytelling, ambient music and entertainment.
With this programme, the local government aims to bring the celebration of Local Trade Day to different urban spaces and favour citizen participation around local establishments, taking advantage of leisure activities as an element to invigorate the streets and squares of Orihuela.
