Crevillent has improved its classification within the tourism categories of the Valencian Community, moving from the category of Singularity to that of Relevance. This recognition will allow the municipality to qualify for greater annual financial support from the Generalitat Valenciana, according to an announcement by mayor Lourdes Aznar Miralles.
Previously, Crevillent held the Singularity category, which sits at the lower level of the third tourism tier. Through work carried out by the tourism department, the municipality has succeeded in moving up to Relevance, constituting the second level of classification.
The first category, named Excellence, is primarily reserved for major tourist destinations in the Valencian Community, including coastal towns such as Benidorm and Dénia. Achieving the Relevance category represents a particularly significant step forward for an inland municipality like Crevillent, which has nearly 30,000 residents.
This change in category brings increased annual financial backing from the Generalitat, with specific amounts for each municipality to be announced once the corresponding resolution is published in the coming days. The tourism department highlights that this improvement is the result of efforts over recent years to consolidate and strengthen Crevillent’s tourism offering, along with quality standards linked to visitor care and promotion.
The town council notes that maintaining this new category will require continued work to improve tourist services and preserve the various quality distinctions and accreditations currently held by the Tourist Info Crevillent office, including the Q for Tourist Quality, the DTI-CV Network, and the Tourist Info Network of the Valencian Community.
The council considers this promotion an important improvement for Crevillent, both for the regional tourism recognition it brings and for the new financial support possibilities it opens up for the municipality. At the same time, it serves as an incentive to continue enhancing tourist promotion, service quality, and the appreciation of Crevillent’s cultural, heritage, natural, gastronomic, and festive resources.
The tourism department emphasises that this category change demonstrates that ongoing efforts are bearing fruit, while stressing the importance of continuing to advance to consolidate the position achieved and take advantage of the new opportunities this classification offers the municipality.
