The National Police has arrested a 33-year-old man in Elche as the alleged perpetrator of a robbery with violence and intimidation committed at a tobacconist’s shop in the city.
According to the investigation, the suspect threatened the female attendant with a large knife and made off with €1,800 from the cash register. The events took place at the beginning of October, around two in the afternoon, when the man entered the establishment and began threatening the worker to force her to open the till.
Fearing for her physical safety, the employee stepped away from the counter, allowing the assailant to access the cash register while continuing to intimidate her with the weapon. The man successfully seized the cash and fled the scene on foot.
The victim reported the incident at the Elche police station, and officers from the Judicial Police took charge of the investigation. After identifying the suspect, police set up search operations in areas frequented by him, locating and arresting him a few days after the complaint was filed.
Following the completion of police procedures regarding the robbery, and by virtue of an active deportation order from the national territory issued by the Provincial Court of Alicante, officers from the Local Immigration and Borders Brigade carried out the execution of the judicial measure.
