Fire fighters from across the province descended on Torrevieja this week, joining a large crowd of mourners who had gathered to bid the last farewell to a colleague who had died after a long illness.
The funeral of Ángel Clares, who was based in Torrevieja and died at the age of just 55, was held in Torrevieja on Thursday at the church of the Immaculate Conception.
After the service, the sirens wailed and lights illuminated on the attending fire trucks, accompanied by the local police, as a final farewell, in an emotional event attended by his wife, three children, three sisters, his family and friends in an emotional last goodbye.
