Summer has arrived and the visitors will be here soon.

Please advise resident and visitors to be aware of the following ways to prevent being the victims of crime in our area.

Normally crime in our area is very low and probably less than in visitor´s home countries. However, visitors come here for the sun, sand and sea and tend to relax. This is a tourist area and in addition to visitor, thieves looking for easy pickings come as well but for a different reason. DON´T MAKE THEIR VISIT AND SPOIL YOURS.

AT THE AIRPORT.

Guard your luggage. Don´t put handbags and wallets on the luggage trolley and don´t enter into conversation with people you do not know. If you have hired a car look out for the “representative” asking you to leave everything in the car and return to the desk. On the way to your destination be aware of being followed. If you are flagged down by anyone in civilian clothes in a plain car showing you a badge do not stop. The Police in Spain do not stop you in plain cars except for the Guardia Civil Trafico who illuminate a stop sign and are in uniform.

AT YOUR DESTINATION.

When you relax on the patio or in the pool always shut and lock house windows.

At night close all vulnerable windows and never leave anything on show from outside.

VISITING THE BEACH.

If you drive there do not leave anything on show in the car and not keys or papers with your address thereon. Do not take anything to the beach which you do not need there. And never leave bags etc there whilst you are in the sea even if a stranger offers to keep an eye on them.

VISITING SHOPS AND MARKETS.

Again only take with you what you will need.

Do not leave things in car whilst inside. Inside beware of distraction thefts – people being asked to reach high shelves or causing a commotion. On leaving beware of the person asking advice or directions whilst you are loading the car.

VISITING RESTUARANTS AND BARS

Again only take with you what you will need including handbags.

Never show wallets open with plenty of money. Thieves use bars to spot vulnerable people that they can attack on their way home.

We hope that all enjoy a wonderful holiday in our areas and come back again. By following this advice your holiday may not be spoilt.

IF POLICE, AMBULANCE OR FIRE SERVICE ARE REQUIRED PHONE 112

YOU CAN SPEAK IN SPANISH, ENGLISH, GERMAN OR SCANDINAVIAN.IF YOU HAVE A FOREIGN MOBILE YOUR CALL WILL AUTOMATICALLY TRANSFERED TO OUR CONTROL CENTRE. THE POLICE HERE ARE VERY EFFICIENT.
