As the summer season officially starts, whilst answering the constant barrage of questions asking when it will return, it´s time for us to resurrect one of our most popular features in The Leader, with the Exite Radio What´s On Guide returning to these pages from next week.
Each week, we bring you our pick of the best in culture and entertainment, so you can plan your visit, however long you might be here.
There are already some great events planned for the summer, such as the Fisherman´s Market coming to the Orihuela Costa, with pirates a plenty, and bargains to boot, as the traders from their themed stall offer a wide range of gifts and goodies.
In Orihuela city there is already a wide range of events this week, from shows by the police band, to a presentation of a new book all about the natural history of the Dehesa de Campoamor, and in the next few weeks everything from Peter Pan to Grease is on offer, as well as a dance festival and music in the streets.
Music in the open air will also return to Torrevieja, as we have the Habaneras competition to look forward to, amongst many other things, the highlight of summer for many a visitor to the city.
Slightly further afield, the likes of Don´t Worry, Be Happy singer, Bobby McFerrin will be in Spain in July, appearing at San Javier, amongst other places. It will no doubt be impossible to avoid the excitement of the younger crowds, as One Direction are also touring through Spain in July, although Madrid and Barcelona are the choices to see the boys perform.
With theatre, dance, exhibitions and more, this summer is set to be one of the most diverse in terms of cultural activities than any year before.
Even though many places over the next few weeks will focus on football, there is still a wide range of other activities to temp everybody, young, old and young at heart, and we will do our very best to bring the pick of those events to you from next week.
