We recently saw the occasion of a District summer BBQ, organised by the District Chairman, Nigel Hails. It was held in Hondón de los Frailes and six local Branches attended as well and many friends and guests.
140 people enjoyed a superb spread cooked and served by Tina of Aulsberry’s Catering Service and a local Spanish DJ Antonio, entertained those present. It was a great opportunity for Legion members to meet those from other Branches and swap ideas.
Members of the Benidorm and District Branch were there to see Marilyn Rogers, Branch Membership Secretary being presented with the McCrea Shield. The Branch had been awarded this Shield at the Annual Conference in Torquay in May for their increased recruiting of members – this being the second time in three years that they have been recognised in this way.
The event raised 400€ for the Poppy Appeal. Nigel said “It was the first event of its kind and we plan to organise another occcasion in the future in another part of the District in order to involve other Branches”
