LUCKY DRIVER IN CLIFF PLUNGE

A 67 year old driver had a lucky escape on Thursday evening in Torrevieja, after driving his car off the top of a Cliff and into the sea at cala de la Higuera.

Local police officers were quick to the scene and managed to make their way down the treacherous Cliffside and into the water, pulling the driver from the wreckage.

The man was admitted to the ICU of the Hospital of Torrevieja with symptoms of near-drowning, multiple trauma, respiratory failure and hypothermia.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
