Halloween weekend is always a busy time on the tennis courts at Campoamor. The half term week brings visiting players, who mix in with the regulars.
On the Friday, players competed in an American tournament. After the preliminary matches, the top 2 men and women competed in a one set mixed doubles final. Congratulations to the winners Jan and Andy McClaughlin who beat Lillian Meagher and Raimundo Martinez in the final. Special thanks to Christine Reed who supplied cakes and coffee for the competitors and their generous donations, which went towards the Dolores dogs home.
On Saturday, a ‘world doubles’ event was held. These events are for the better players on the Costa Blanca and are limited to 12 players, so that everybody gets 3 hours of solid, competitive, tennis. Results- 1st Steve Durie 30 pts 2nd Brendan Pettit 27 pts 3rd Andy McClaughlin 25pts.
