EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Transavia are the cheapest airlines to use when flying out of Spain.

According to the air travel metasearch Trabber.es, which has analised the results of over a million searches for flights leaving Spanish airports during the last six months, EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Transavia are the cheapest airlines to use when flying out of Spain.

As such the ‘low cost’ British airline Easyjet has reclaimed the top spot beating Ryanair, which was previous listed as the cheapest airline in the previous period.

EasyJet now leads the ranking of the cheapest airlines in its business sector, which also includes the comparative costs of traveling with a suitcase and paying by credit card, two of the most common requirements of travelers.

According Trabber.es, since July, EasyJet prices came out cheaper than the others in 51% of all searches whilst Ryanair were the lower priced carrier in 49% of searches, although they also say that "it is more likely that a traveler from a Spanish airport would have used the Irish company since their network of routes is the largest of all the low cost airlines."

These two low cost airlines were followed by the Hungarian-Polish Wizz Air, the cheapest in 36.4% of cases; Transavia, a subsidiary of Air France-KLM, in 36.3% of cases, and Turkey’s Pegasus Airlines, which was cheapest in 21.7% of searches.

The founder and CEO of Trabber.es, Oscar Frias said that Spain is "one of the European countries into which the most UK companies fly, which provides competition that benefits the user."

Although ‘low cost’ companies are the cheapest on most routes, Iberia is placed in fifth place in the search ranking. The airline, headed by Luis Gallego, has realized better prices for the third consecutive month when compared to other airlines.

They were followed closely by Iberia Air Europa, listed sixth among the cheapest airlines to use when flying out of Spain, with 15.7% of cheaper searches.

Rounding out the top ten airlines in the ranking are Royal Air (14.8%), Vueling (14.7%), American Airlines (14.5%) and Norwegian (14.2%).
