Police officers in Madrid arrested a 37 year old Man on Friday, identified as Daniel Pérez, after he crashed his explosive laden car into the Partido Popular headquarters in the capital.
According to police sources, Pérez suffers from schizophrenia and is a known drug user with a police record for a car theft in 1999.
His motivation for the attack was said to be against the political institution, and his choice of the PP was purely coincidental, as all political parties are equally as bad, in his eyes, and he could have attacked any one of them.
Peréz had worked in his home town in a factory in Teruel, but has been unemployed since May. He told the arresting officers that he was a businessman and he was desperate after having lost everything.
An examination of his car revealed several kilos of ammonium nitrate and a timer, described as being of a domestic style.
