Orihuela councillors Rosa Martinez and Manuel Gallud were out on the streets last week looking at some of the ‘street art’ that has been produced over the last six months by young local artists under the direction of graffiti artist Javier Agulló.

Cllr for Employment Manuel Gallud said that the work is "the culmination of an Employment Plan that has been developed by the Town Hall over the last six months and has involved the hiring of 26 people who have been used to smarten up and improve the area around the local sierra, mountain belt surrounding the Fundación Cultural Miguel Hernández.

Agulló said that, when performing his work, he was constantly thinking of Migue Hernandez, sitting at the foot of mountains years ago while writing his poems. "I’ve drawn humbly and colors represent the ideas that he provided," he added.
