Man Dies in Torrevieja Bridge Fall

A 55 year old man, of Belgian nationality, died on Sunday falling from a bridge over the N-332 main road.

The incident happened at around 13:00 when the man, accompanied by a woman, is believed to have lost his footing on a notorious bridge where no pedestrian walkway is available, near to the musical auditorium.

The Guardia Civil are investigating the circumstances.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
