Torrevieja Cancels New Year’s Eve Party in the Main Square

The festivities department of Torrevieja town hall has reported that “due to the high-risk situation of the Covid-19 health pandemic” and, by transferring the responsibility for the authorisation of activities to the municipalities, it has finally decided not to cancel the New Year’s Eve celebrations which were due to take place in the town.

The cancellation also affects the children’s party due to take place on 30 December, both of which were scheduled to be held in the Plaza de la Constitución.

In a statement, the department has expressed its regret at having to adopt this decision, especially since it is not possible to guarantee the permanent use of the mask, since it is about events that celebrate the traditional farewell and welcome of the year with grapes and a toast.

Other events will still be going ahead in the town, including the delivery of the letters of Their Majesties The Three Kings on 3 and 4 January, from 16:30 to 19:30.

The parade of The Three Kings is also planned , on 5 January, from 17:30 p.m., departing from the fishing port.

The council appeals to the responsibility of citizens in general when it comes to complying with all prevention and safety measures, as well as social distancing between all people.
