The Spanish meteorological service, AEMET, has issued a yellow weather warning for rain, commencing at 17:00 on Wednesday 21 September 2022, expiring at 23:59 on the same day.
Weather alerts for rain were already in place but only for inland areas. The alert has now been extended to cover the coastal areas in the south of the Alicante province, where Torrevieja is located.
The alert warns of accumulated rainfall in one hour: 20 mm, which may intensify to 30 mm/h at times. In addition, there may be storms accompanied by hail. The probability of this happening is between 40 and 70%.

UPDATE: As of Wednesday afternoon, the alert has been pushed back. It is now active from Midnight on Wednesday, but for a longer period, until 21:59 on Thursday evening, so all day on Thursday. Same risk applies, just later and longer.
UPDATE 2: As on Thursday morning, the alert has been pushed back again, and is now active from 14:00 on Thursday 22 September 2022, until 21:59 on the same day. the warning is still for 20 mm, but the intense downpours of 30 mm are lifted.
