The PSOE of Torrevieja held an extraordinary assembly on Saturday to elect the new Municipal Executive Commission and thus return normality to the group.

The voting day was characterised by a high participation compared to previous occasions, reaching 60% of those called to vote. The only candidacy presented, led by Bárbara Soler, achieved unanimity in the votes cast. The chosen candidacy was presented by Soler in the middle of this week along with the project that she proposed for the socialist group.

Representatives of the party were present at both the regional and provincial levels, as well as part of the militancy.

The regional general secretary, Joaquín Hernández, congratulated the newly elected general secretary and the rest of the executive. For his part, the national deputy, Alejandro Soler, highlighted the relevance of Torrevieja at the regional level and the importance of “achieving a result in the next municipal elections that allows us to govern by applying the future project that we socialists have for Torrevieja.”

Likewise, the spokesperson for the municipal group and recently elected general secretary confirmed that “it is necessary for the socialist party to be attractive to the young people of the city” and that work will be done to establish the Socialist Youth of Torrevieja again, since “the youth with left-wing political concerns must be able to defend their interests first-hand.” Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of “having a cohesive party, open to all citizens and that provides solutions to the problems of our city in the face of the improvisation of the Partido Popular.”
