La Mata Natural Park, Torrevieja

Protected Natural Spaces are ecosystems with great ecological and socioeconomic value, but they are also especially vulnerable to climatic and anthropogenic pressures. Vulnerability and complexity forces the development of sustainable tourism models. To this end, the Chan-Twin project is being developed, the digital twin of the natural park of the Torrevieja and La Mata lagoons.

The project, financed with European funds, has been led by the University of Alicante and the Polytechnic University of Valencia in collaboration with Torrevieja Council and the managers of the natural park.

This digital twin allows the monitoring, analysis and sustainable management of this environment and is already giving the first results in its first year of execution.

Once finished, the application will allow you to view the sustainable tourism indicators collected thanks to a network of sensors deployed in the natural park.

This digital twin is available for viewing at the Vista Alegre Tourist Office and at the Visitor Reception Centre of the Natural Park.

The researchers responsible for the development of the project are now asking for everyone´s help by firstly visiting the digital twin viewing sites, and then participating in the project assessment surveys.
