Correos is helping people get environmental badges from the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT), which are needed to get into some Low Emission Zones (LEZ).
You may easily get these badges at the three Correos offices in Torrevieja, which are located at Caballero de Rodas, 55; Purificación, 8; and Desiderio Rodriguez, 37. The province has 100 rural Correos services that can also bring the badges directly to the homes of those who live in tiny towns.
Low Emission Zones are set up in cities with more than 50,000 people, island territories, and towns with more than 20,000 people that have significant levels of pollution. Their main goal is to make the air cleaner and lower the amount of pollution, which will make the environment healthier and more sustainable for everyone.
To make it easier for people to follow these rules, Correos has made its national network of almost 2,400 offices and more than 6,000 rural postmen and postwomen available to the public. These people offer these special signs all over the country, even in rural areas, so people don’t have to travel unnecessarily and can get the service they need.
This makes it easy for people to get the stickers in cities where access is limited for environmental reasons. There are four varieties of stickers available right now, each with a different colour and meaning: Zero Emissions (blue), Eco (blue and green), C Sticker (green), and B Sticker (yellow). They cost €6 and come in two sizes, one for each type of vehicle. This makes them an important instrument for identification in compliance with current rules.
In addition, post offices offer the V16 Beacon, an approved emergency light that allows the vehicle’s position to be signalled in case of breakdown or accident without having to leave the vehicle, thus contributing to improved road safety.
The ability to do DGT (Spanish Directorate General of Traffic) processes is one of the many new services that post offices are offering. In addition to delivering letters and packages, post offices offer a wide range of goods and services that make life easier for people, such as Correos Cash for depositing and withdrawing cash, money transfers, paying bills and taxes, exchanging currency, AXA Insurance, Correos Market, Citypaq, access to the Administration’s electronic registry, and philatelic products, to name a few.
