The dismantling of a criminal organisation that utilised vehicles with concealed compartments to convey drugs in Elche has dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking. The operation has resulted in seven arrests.
The National Police and Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency collaborated on the operation, which resulted in the confiscation of a substantial quantity of drugs, cash, firearms, and other items associated with criminal activity.
Five men and two women, aged 36 to 42, are accused of drug trafficking offences, unlawful weapon possession, and membership in a criminal organisation.
Vehicles that conceal narcotics in containers and have false bottoms to circumvent inspections
The investigation commenced with the apprehension of one of the organisation’s members, from whom 200 grams of cocaine were confiscated. Subsequently, an additional suspect was apprehended while transporting 3.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a false bottom of his vehicle, which was disguised as containers of powdered milk and coffee.
The agents then concentrated their investigation on the group’s leader, successfully identifying the remaining members who acted in a coordinated manner with differentiated functions.
Although some were responsible for the acquisition of the drugs, others were responsible for their concealment and distribution. The money was subsequently transferred to the organisation’s leader.

The final segment of the operation culminated in a series of raids in the town of Elche, during which 17 kilograms of marijuana buds, 110 grams of cocaine, and 260 marijuana plants were confiscated.

In addition, the agents discovered a firearm with ammunition, 78,240 euros in cash, precious jewellery, five precision scales, and seven vehicles, some of which were equipped with concealed compartments.
Also requested is the suspension of a variety of assets and property that belong to the organisation, such as banking products and real estate.
The judge ordered the provisional imprisonment of five of the detainees after they were taken before the court. This operation has enabled the complete dismantling of the criminal network.
