The Guardia Civil has arrested a 32-year-old man, a resident of Sant Joan d’Alacant, after he was observed driving without a licence, under the influence of narcotics and with a prohibited homemade weapon capable of producing electric shocks on the A-31.
The intervention was conducted in the vicinity of Chinchilla de Montearagón, in the province of Albacete, after the 062 operators received a report regarding the unusual conduct of the driver of a vehicle that was travelling at an excessive rate of speed on the highway toward the capital of Albacete.
The Guardia Civil activated a device with two patrols from Alatoz and Higueruela in response to the warning. The patrols were able to stop the vehicle and identify the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Officers observed that the detainee was behaving evasively and nervously during the operation. They inspected the interior of the car and his possessions as a result of this conduct. A homemade device resembling a pistol was discovered within the vehicle, with numerous interconnected batteries affixed. An electric shock in pulses was produced when a button was struck.
Weapons and substances that are prohibited in the vehicle
Under current regulations, this form of device is classified as a prohibited weapon. Fines ranging from €600 to €30,000 may be imposed for its possession.
Furthermore, the agents confiscated numerous marijuana quantities from the detainee’s personal belongings.
In the absence of permission as a result of the loss of psychophysical conditions
Officers from the Albacete Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard administered a drug test to the apprehended individual, which also yielded a positive result. Additionally, the officers confirmed that he was unable to obtain a driver’s licence as a result of a decline in his psychophysical well-being.
The operation led to the apprehension of the driver and the seizure of the prohibited weapon and the narcotic substance that were discovered during the inspection.
