The construction of the highly anticipated Bauhaus Torrevieja store has officially begun, following the laying of the foundation stone at a press event held on site.

The ceremony was attended by local officials, members of the press, and representatives involved in the project. Mayor Eduardo Dolón led the event, marking the occasion by placing the first stone and overseeing the sealing of a time capsule beneath the foundations — a symbolic gesture to commemorate the start of construction.
The development represents a significant investment in Torrevieja and is expected to become a key destination for home improvement, construction, and gardening supplies once completed.
Bauhaus is a well-established European brand, recognised for its large-format stores offering a wide range of products under one roof. Its arrival in Torrevieja will provide both professionals and residents with access to an extensive selection of materials and tools, supporting everything from small DIY projects to large-scale construction work.
The project has been in planning for some time, with earlier announcements outlining the scale and ambition of the development. You can read more about the initial plans here:

With the groundwork now underway, attention will turn to the construction phase, as the site begins its transformation into one of the most important retail developments in the area.
The launch of Bauhaus Torrevieja is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating jobs and strengthening the city’s position as a growing commercial hub on the Costa Blanca.
Further updates will follow as the project progresses.

With this new development, the company will add its third store in the Valencian Community, joining its existing locations in Paterna and Alfafar, bringing its total commercial space in the region to around 45,000 square metres.
The ceremony was attended by the CEO of BAUHAUS Spain, Bart Ginneberge, alongside the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, as well as institutional representatives and members of the project team.
Speaking at the event, Bart Ginneberge said that the new Torrevieja store strengthens BAUHAUS’ presence in the region, moving the company closer to 45,000 square metres of retail space and supporting the creation of around 1,000 jobs across the Valencian Community.
Mayor Eduardo Dolón highlighted the importance of the project for the city, describing it as a significant step forward for a sector that continues to grow. He noted that the new BAUHAUS centre will enhance the local offering and create a substantial number of jobs, with the City Council working alongside the company to support recruitment opportunities for residents of Torrevieja.
The new centre will be built on a 30,000 square metre plot, with a total constructed area of 13,000 square metres. This will include a 9,000 square metre store, a 1,700 square metre Drive-In area, and a 2,300 square metre City Garden section.
Construction of the site is expected to create 150 direct jobs and around 100 indirect jobs, contributing to the economic development of the surrounding area. These roles will be linked both to the operation of the store and to suppliers and services connected to the project.
BAUHAUS has also highlighted its commitment to stable, high-quality employment, with more than 90 per cent of its workforce on permanent contracts and a focus on recruiting local talent to support the communities in which it operates.
In line with its environmental commitments, the project will incorporate energy-efficient measures, including photovoltaic panels expected to generate around 35 per cent of the centre’s energy needs, as well as rainwater collection systems and electric vehicle charging points.
The company aims to integrate fully into the local area, contributing to both the economic and social development of Torrevieja.
With this latest development, BAUHAUS continues to expand its presence in Spain, where it will operate 15 stores following the opening of the Torrevieja site and the planned launch of its new Meridiana store in Barcelona later this year, further strengthening its position in the DIY, renovation, and home improvement sector.
