Torrevieja is set to mark the beginning of a significant new commercial development as leading DIY and home improvement company BAUHAUS prepares to lay the foundation stone for its new store in the town.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday 16 April 2026 at 12:45 in the Polígono La Hoya industrial area of Torrevieja. The event will be attended by the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, alongside Bart Ginneberge, CEO of BAUHAUS en España, highlighting the importance of the project both locally and at a national level.
The laying of the first stone represents the official start of construction for what will become BAUHAUS’s third store in the Valencian Community. The development is expected to play a key role in boosting the local economy, with projections indicating the creation of more than 250 jobs once the centre is operational.
BAUHAUS is widely recognised as a major name in the DIY, construction, and home improvement sector across Europe. Its stores typically offer a wide range of products for building, renovation, decoration, gardening, and tools, often combined with large-format retail spaces designed to cater to both professionals and private customers.
The new Torrevieja store forms part of the company’s ongoing expansion strategy in Spain, underlining its commitment to the Valencian Community. The project is expected not only to provide employment opportunities but also to strengthen the area’s commercial offering, particularly within the growing Polígono La Hoya business zone.
During the ceremony, representatives will carry out the symbolic act of placing the foundation stone, followed by statements outlining the anticipated impact of the development on the town and the wider region. The event marks an important milestone for Torrevieja as it continues to attract investment and expand its economic base.
