In the past year, Elche has experienced a 1.2% increase in crime rates, with 121 additional incidents. This represents a jump from 9,806 criminal offences in 2024 to 9,927 in 2025, despite a decrease in crimes outside the digital domain.
According to the most recent reports published by the Ministry of the Interior, sexual assaults with penetration have increased by 30% from 30 to 39 cases in a single year, despite the general decrease. This increase is based on data from the National Police, the Regional Police, and the Local Police.
Movement
Vox emphasised this most recent assault data days ago to develop the motion they will present to the plenary session tomorrow. The motion calls for a restructuring of security in the city and the recruitment of additional National Police officers. The primary objective of this plenary proposal is to criticise the central government for its failure to address a situation that, in their opinion, requires immediate action. This includes the creation of specific units to combat organised gangs, the warning of a 20% deficit, and an increase in the police force. The proposal also aims to reduce the number of assaults.
Nevertheless, the figure is in stark contrast to the general decrease in crimes against sexual freedom, which decreased from 131 to 112 incidents, a 14.5% decrease, despite the fact that the most severe crimes have increased, a stance that the PP’s partners support.
This decrease is attributable to the 27% decrease in the remaining crimes against sexual freedom, which fell from 101 to 73. These crimes include assaults without penetration, harassment, exhibitionism, and crimes against minors.
The ultraconservative group also emphasised that 452 burglaries had been committed in homes, establishments, and other facilities, as well as that 160 robberies with violence and intimidation had occurred throughout the past year, in order to bolster their demand for increased security. This was included in the overall assessment of offences.
The subcategory of burglaries experienced a slight increase, increasing from 340 to 343 cases, despite the fact that these two categories of offences have also diminished over the past year, with a decrease of 3.6% and 12.2%, respectively. Additionally, there was a 28.9% increase in vehicle larceny, from 204 to 263.
Composition
Suppose that the city is undergoing an internal reorganisation of its crime map. Conventional crime decreased from 8,128 to 8,022 incidents, resulting in 106 fewer offences and a 1.3% decrease. In the interim, cybercrime experienced a 13.5% increase, with 227 additional offences and a rise from 1,678 to 1,905 cases.
Computer scams experienced a 7.5% increase from 1,476 to 1,586 cases within the digital crime category. The section of other cybercrimes, which encompassed computer forgeries, threats or coercion, illegal access and interception of data, or interference in systems, experienced the largest relative increase, increasing from 202 to 319 cases, representing a 57.9% increase.
The trend in numerous conventional offences is starkly contrasted with the increase in cybercrime. One of the most prevalent categories, thefts, experienced a 2.5% decrease, from 2,634 to 2,569. Yet another substantial decrease was observed in the number of severe and less serious assault and affray offences, which decreased from 105 to 90 cases, a 14.3% decrease.
Conversely, there were three intentional homicides and completed murders, which is two more than in 2024. Additionally, there were seven intentional homicides and attempted murders, which is an increase from six in 2024.
Substances
The trend is more consistent in other indicators. The number of drug trafficking incidents increased by 1.2%, from 168 to 170. In terms of kidnappings, there have been no incidents in the past two years.
