Two women were arrested by the Guardia Civil in Spain for practising medicine without a licence, document forgery, endangering public health, fraud, and theft. They were discovered to be practicing as physicians without the necessary qualifications. In the municipality of Santa Pola (Alicante), they administered medication to victims and administered invasive treatments using forged prescriptions.
Operation “Ribosoma” was initiated by the Guardia Civil’s Investigation Unit in Santa Pola at the beginning of March in response to a complaint submitted by the clinic manager in Santa Pola. The complainant reported that a woman who was present at the clinic as an observer may be conducting medical duties without the requisite qualifications. Additionally, she had identified discrepancies in the clinic’s cash receipts.
Initially, it was discovered that the primary suspect administered remedies at her own residence and at the homes of patients. Psychotropic substances and other compounds were administered intravenously, as well as anti-aging treatments, all without medical supervision or oversight.
The investigations enabled the identification of a second woman who actively participated in the criminal activity, responsible for the preparation of counterfeit medical prescriptions that facilitated the acquisition of medications at pharmacies.
Both agents were able to supply the medications to patients outside of legal channels by falsifying medical prescriptions and obtaining them through dispatches from abroad, as the agents verified.

Both women were apprehended because of the operation. The primary suspect is accused of practising medicine without a licence, document forgery, committing offences against public health, fraud, and theft, while the second suspect is charged with document forgery.
Five individuals have been identified as having been purportedly treated by the fraudulent physician during the investigation; however, the possibility of additional victims is not entirely dismissed.
The detainees were released after being housed at the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Elche and subjected to precautionary measures.
The Civil Guard is urging any potential victims who may have been treated by these individuals to contact the Security Forces. They can do so by visiting anyGuardia Civil station or by calling 062. This will ensure that they receive the necessary advice and avoid any potential health risks.
