The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) has ordered the withdrawal of all old batches of “Men Depil” shower hair removal cream, sold under the Deliplus brand. The measure was taken after safety deficiencies were identified regarding the product’s use.
The alert does not concern the chemical composition of the cream itself, but rather the instructions for use provided on the packaging. According to the AEMPS, the original instructions could allow for the cream to be applied to several large areas of the body on the same day. This poses a potential risk of overexposure for the consumer.
The product, which is distributed and sold by Mercadona, has been removed from shelves following the decision by the responsible company, Viokox S.A., to cease marketing the affected batches and initiate a recall.
The hair removal cream has now returned to the shelves with updated labelling. The company has modified the usage instructions and safety precautions to ensure safer application. New packaging now includes a specific warning stating: “Do not depilate more than one large area (chest, back, arms, or full legs) on the same day.”
This action was communicated by the AEMPS to health authorities across the autonomous communities as part of a wider cosmetic safety evaluation campaign launched in 2025.
