The Elche City Council, through the Department of Commerce, has announced the return of the ‘Street Food Market’ to the Paseo de la Estación. This popular event will take place over the weekend of 8 to 10 May, offering a blend of international cuisine, live entertainment, and family activities.
Caridad Martínez, the councillor for the area, invited residents and visitors alike to attend, stating that the objective is to bring activities to the city every weekend. She noted that such events attract both locals and people from neighbouring municipalities, providing a boost to local hospitality and trade.
Now in its eleventh edition, the festival has become a fixed fixture in the municipal calendar. This year’s setup will feature approximately fifteen food trucks serving a variety of national and international dishes. In addition to the food offerings, there will be a design market with around thirty stalls showcasing hand-crafted goods, fashion, and unique designs.
Entertainment will be a core part of the weekend, with a diverse line-up of live performances. Highlights include an acoustic set by La Habitación Roja on Friday, followed by sets from The Liverpool Band (a Beatles tribute), and tribute acts dedicated to Estopa and Mecano. Families can also enjoy storytelling, comedy shows, and specific concerts designed for children.
Organiser Rafael Baeza emphasised that the event is now fully established, describing it as a complete format where visitors can shop, eat, enjoy live music, and spend a day out with the family.
The market will open on Friday 8 May from 18:00 to 00:00. On Saturday 9 May, it will be open from 12:00 to 00:00, and on Sunday 10 May, the hours will be 12:00 to 23:00. Entry to the event is free of charge.
