The coastline of Elche will once again boast five blue flags in 2026, confirming the continued high standards and quality of its coastal areas. This annual recognition ensures that the municipality maintains its status as a top-tier destination for both residents and visitors seeking pristine seaside environments.
The prestigious flags will be flown at Arenales del Sol, El Carabassí, El Altet, La Marina, and Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo. The awards are granted by the Association for Environmental Education and Consumer Protection (ADEAC) following a rigorous analysis of various international standards. To secure the distinction, beaches are assessed on water quality, environmental management, the range of services provided, the safety of bathers, and the provision of environmental information and education.
Irene Ruiz, the Councillor for Tourism, highlighted that the renewal of these five blue flags validates the exceptional quality of the beaches in Elche, as well as the safety and services they offer. She noted that the achievement is the result of a consistent effort to maintain these high standards year after year.
Beyond certifying the cleanliness of the water and the surrounding environment, the blue flag also serves as a guarantee for accessibility, the presence of professional lifeguard services, and clear signage. These elements are considered fundamental in ensuring a safe and positive experience for all those who visit the Elche coast, especially during the busy summer season. With this latest announcement, Elche continues to establish its shoreline as one of the most prominent in the province of Alicante.
