The animal protection association Asoka Orihuela, which manages the Municipal Animal Protection Centre (CPA) in Orihuela, is set to host a new edition of its “Paseos Solidarios” (Charity Walks) on Sunday May 17th. This initiative is designed to encourage pet adoption and to provide the public with a firsthand look at the vital work carried out at the municipal shelter.
The event will take place at the centre’s facilities, located on Camino Lo Arques in the San Bartolomé district of Orihuela. Participants are asked to make a donation of 5 euro, which will be used entirely for the maintenance and care of the animals currently housed at the shelter.
Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to take some of the resident dogs for a walk and learn more about the animals and the daily operations of the association. The event also serves as an information hub for those interested in the processes of adoption, sponsorship, or fostering animals.

Asoka Orihuela emphasised that these gatherings are incredibly beneficial for the dogs’ socialisation, allowing potential adopters to interact with them in a more relaxed and personal setting.
To accommodate as many people as possible, the day will be split into different time slots. Two sessions will be conducted in Spanish at 10.15 am and 11.30 am, with a dedicated session for English speakers scheduled for 11.00 am.
Prior registration is required to participate, and interested parties should send an email to asokaorihuela@gmail.com. Further information regarding the association and its activities can be found on their website at www.protectoraoriolana.org or via their social media channels.
