The Guardia Civil has arrested a man in Pilar de la Horadada on suspicion of beating a friend to death with a stick and subsequently attempting to disguise the crime as a traffic accident.
The incident began late in the evening on 23rd April, around 21:00, when the suspect contacted emergency services via the 112 number. He claimed to have discovered the lifeless body of a friend inside a large drainage pipe located next to a road in the municipality. At the time, the man suggested to authorities that the victim had likely been the victim of a hit-and-run driver who had fled the scene.
However, investigators from the Guardia Civil quickly became suspicious of the account provided. Forensic evidence and an analysis of the scene did not align with the injuries typically sustained in a vehicle collision. Within 24 hours, the investigation took a significant turn as officers gathered evidence pointing towards a violent confrontation.

Under questioning, the suspect eventually confessed to the killing. He admitted that a heated argument had broken out between the two men, which escalated until he struck his friend repeatedly with a wooden stick, causing fatal injuries. In a desperate bid to evade justice, he moved the body and called emergency services with the fabricated story about a road accident.
The suspect has been charged with homicide and remains in custody. The Guardia Civil has confirmed that the case is now being handled by the relevant judicial authorities.
