Five young men have been arrested by the Local Police in Benidorm following a raid on a cannabis club situated on one of the municipality’s busiest commercial streets.
Early yesterday morning, Wednesday 27th May, officers conducted an inspection operation on Avenida del Mediterráneo, a main thoroughfare lined with supermarkets, bars, shoe stores, real estate agencies, and discount shops. Upon entering the establishment, police caught the suspects handling a substantial quantity of narcotics.
The five detained individuals, aged between 21 and 30 and of Italian and Brazilian nationalities, face charges of drug trafficking.
During a thorough search of the premises, officers seized more than seven kilogrammes of drugs, consisting primarily of marijuana and hashish. The substances were found organised inside various Tupperware containers, carefully classified by types and varieties with names such as Frosty Gelato, Skittle, and Skittle Pink, indicating a distribution network prepared for direct sale. Under the regulations governing legal cannabis associations, consumption must take place strictly inside the authorised establishment, and customers are forbidden from leaving the premises with the substances.
In addition to the narcotics, the Local Police confiscated several precision scales, bladed weapons, mobile phones, and cash believed to be linked to the illegal activity. Following the operation, the commercial premises were closed down, and the five detainees have been brought before the duty judge to face legal proceedings.
