The “Joaquín Chapaprieta” Municipal Institute of Culture in Torrevieja has approved the launch of a new public tender for the comprehensive management of the Municipal Theatre, the International Auditorium, and the Floating Museums. The new contract comes with an annual base budget of 2,931,882.70 euro and an initial duration of one year, with three potential extensions. This brings the total estimated value of the contract to 10,351,610.32 euro.
The approval was granted during an extraordinary meeting of the governing board on Friday, 29th May. This administrative move ensures the continuity of cultural services before the current contract expires on 31st August. A joint venture formed by Esatur and Mediapro has managed the existing service for the past four years.
For the first time, Torrevieja is incorporating its Floating Museums into this unified cultural management contract. Municipal sources highlight that including these maritime exhibition spaces will allow the council to deploy specialised staff for visitor services. The chosen contractor will also be responsible for professional ticketing systems, access control, and the daily opening and closing of the facilities, enhancing the overall experience for tourists and residents alike.
By combining these primary infrastructures, the Municipal Institute of Culture aims to secure a stable, high-quality cultural programme whilst maintaining an efficient operational model that links cultural heritage directly with the local tourism economy.
