The Vega Baja region is set to experience a week marked by intense heat and a fully summery atmosphere, according to the meteorological notes provided by MeteOrihuela for the period spanning until 7th June.
The most notable episode of this heatwave will arrive today, Tuesday 2nd June, when thermometers could reach up to 40ºC in the inland areas of the region. In response to these conditions, the State Meteorological Agency has activated a yellow weather warning for high temperatures across Vega Baja. This warning will remain in place from 14:00 until 20:00 on Tuesday.
Following this peak in heat, a significant drop in temperature will occur on Wednesday, with values falling by up to 10 degrees compared to those recorded the previous day. Despite this decrease, temperatures will continue to remain high for this time of the year.
Another prominent feature of the week will be tropical nights, particularly in coastal municipalities, where the thermometer will barely drop below 20ºC during a large part of the early hours of the morning.
In terms of the sky, intervals of clouds and clear spells will predominate, alongside extended periods of clear skies. However, the possibility of a weak and isolated shower occurring during the day on Friday cannot be completely ruled out.
Regarding the wind, it will blow from the south and north-east, with gusts that could reach a certain intensity in coastal areas during the afternoons of Wednesday and Friday, especially right along the coast.
Finally, air quality is expected to remain at favourable levels throughout the entire week, thanks to the absence of Saharan dust intrusions over the south-east of the peninsula.
