Court number 1 of the Violence Against Women Section of the Instance Tribunal of Orihuela, Alicante, has ordered provisional prison without bail for the man arrested on Tuesday, 2nd June, by the Guardia Civil. He is detained for allegedly killing his romantic partner, a 48-year-old woman, in the home in Callosa de Segura where they apparently lived together.
The Superior Court of Justice has reported yesterday, Thursday 4th June, that the male is being investigated in an open case for the crimes of homicide or murder and abuse within the scope of violence against women, without prejudice to further classification.
Following the confirmation of the case in this Alicante municipality by the Ministry of Equality, the number of women killed by gender violence in Spain this year has risen to 23. Four of these cases have occurred in the Valencian Community, bringing the total to 1,364 since 2003 when records began.
