The Policia Nacional has arrested a 34-year-old man in Alicante for his suspected involvement in a drug trafficking offence. Officers intercepted the suspect immediately after he carried out a sale of narcotic substances in the doorway of the building where he lived.
The intervention took place during a preventative citizen security patrol. Police officers observed two men handing over money to another man, who responded by taking a plastic wrapper out of his pockets.
Suspecting that a drugs-for-cash exchange was taking place, the officers approached to identify those involved. Once the officers identified themselves as police, one of the buyers admitted that they had arranged a meeting to purchase narcotic substances from the man who had handed them the wrapper.
During a search of the suspected seller, officers located several wrappers containing cocaine, hashish and marijuana. They also found the money received in the transaction. The substances were seized, and the suspect was arrested for an alleged crime against public health.
Following the arrest, and given the possibility that more drugs were stored inside his home, investigators requested judicial authorisation to carry out an entry and search of the property.
Inside the property, officers seized nearly 40 grams of cocaine, around 7.5 grams of tusi, 30 grams of hashish and 87 grams of marijuana. In addition, officers found more than 17,500 euro in split banknotes, two precision scales and various utensils used for preparing drug doses.
Once the police proceedings were completed, the arrested man was placed at the disposal of the Alicante investigative courts on duty.
