A married couple are facing an initial prosecutor request of three years in prison each for allegedly failing to register 24 out of 27 workers with the Social Security system at the cleaning company they managed in Alicante.
The trial is scheduled to take place today, Tuesday 16th June, starting at 10.00am, in the First Section of the Provincial Court of Alicante, where both individuals stand accused of an alleged crime against workers’ rights.
The events date back to 28th June 2023, when an inspection carried out at the company revealed that 24 employees were working irregularly. This figure represents 88 per cent of the total workforce, which consisted of 27 people.
The Prosecution Service maintains that the employees were not registered with the Social Security system despite being an active part of the company’s operations. Due to these actions, the public prosecutor is initially seeking a three-year prison sentence for each of the accused.
