The inaugural Vega Baja Emplea 2026 regional employment fair has achieved resounding success in Torrevieja, generating a total of 634 job opportunities. The major event attracted 700 participants and brought together 43 businesses and organisations at the Auditorio Internacional de Torrevieja.
Organised by the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP) as part of the LABORA-FVMP project, and run in collaboration with Torrevieja City Council, the fair established itself as a vital meeting point. It successfully connected local businesses, public administrations, employment entities and job seekers from across the entire Vega Baja region.
The opening of the event was attended by María Luisa Mezquita, the Director General of Planning and Services at LABORA, alongside Miguel Bailach, the General Secretary of the FVMP, and Eduardo Dolón, the Mayor of Torrevieja.
Throughout the morning, attendees were able to participate in fast-track interviews with human resources managers, submit their curricula vitae directly to companies across various productive sectors, discover active job vacancies and access expert guidance on training, job placement and professional development.
Simultaneously, the participating companies used the dynamic format to identify local talent, expand their candidate pools and establish direct contact with potential employees, facilitating numerous selection processes on the day.
The FVMP highlighted the outstanding success of this first edition, praising both the high attendance and the deep involvement of collaborating businesses and entities. They underlined the ongoing importance of promoting spaces that bring employment opportunities closer to citizens and contribute directly to the economic development of local municipalities.
The initiative was jointly organised by the FVMP, LABORA and Torrevieja City Council. It also featured collaboration from the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, the Orihuela Chamber of Commerce, CONVEGA, FEMPA and Dual Vocational Training (FP Dual) talent scouts, alongside various other entities committed to the economic and employment development of the territory.
The record participation at this first fair reinforces the need to continue driving actions that support employability, training and the vital connection between businesses and professionals to foster social and economic growth across the region.
