Torrevieja is set to host a wide programme of activities from 26th June to 4th July, including the reading of a manifesto, a cultural gala, a specialised talk-debate and a grand final party at the Paseo Vista Alegre. The Torrevieja Town Hall, through the Department of Social Welfare, alongside the Torrevieja Diversa association and various collaborating entities, has presented the schedule for Torrevieja Pride 2026. This initiative aims to promote equality, inclusion, respect and visibility for the LGTBIQ+ community.
Over more than a week, the town will become the stage for cultural, informative and festive activities aimed at all citizens, combining the demand for rights with proposals for social participation, coexistence and the celebration of diversity.
The events will begin on Friday, 26th June, with the traditional reading of the Pride manifesto, which will take place at 11:00 am at the main entrance of Torrevieja Town Hall. At the same time, an information point will be set up in the Plaza de la Constitución, offering information and educational material related to affective-sexual and gender diversity, as well as awareness and support resources for citizens.
The programming will continue that same evening with the celebration of the Pride Gala 2026, scheduled for 7:30 pm at the Palacio de la Música. The theatre company La Cueva de Melpómene will perform the play “Pequeños secretos de familia”, written and directed by José Manuel Vidal. The production addresses family relationships, prejudice, acceptance and diversity through humour and reflection, making it one of the most prominent cultural events on the schedule. The gala aims to establish itself as a meeting point for culture and visibility, using the performing arts as a tool to foster respect, empathy and coexistence.
On Tuesday, 30th June, at 7:00 pm, the Centro Cultural Virgen del Carmen will host a talk-debate titled “Pride with meaning: survival kit for organising LGTBIQ+ events with social impact, community and local projection”. It will be given by the researcher, teacher and specialist in communication and diversity José Vázquez-González, from the University of Seville.
The session offers a practical, strategic and reflective approach to organising events linked to affective-sexual and gender diversity, particularly within the framework of Pride celebrations. The goal is to analyse how these initiatives can go beyond mere celebration to become genuine tools for social transformation, community strengthening and local growth.
Key aspects such as defining objectives; identifying target audiences; building a diverse and inclusive programme, effective communication; establishing alliances with social entities, institutions and companies; and evaluating the social, cultural and economic impact of such events will be covered.
José Vázquez-González will also analyse some of the main challenges currently faced by diversity events, warning against risks like improvisation, lack of strategic planning, reproduction of stereotypes and pinkwashing. Instead, he will advocate for proposals that connect the demand for rights with fields as varied as culture, education, tourism, citizen participation and local economic development.
The talk will include examples of good practices from both large cities and smaller municipalities, showing that high social impact projects can be built without large budgets. The activity is aimed at associations, social entities, public administrations, cultural agents, tourism professionals, students and anyone interested in how events can drive coexistence, visibility and social cohesion.
José Vázquez-González has an extensive academic and professional background in communication, advertising, events and LGTBIQ+ diversity. He has participated in research regarding Seville Pride and has given specialised lectures in Spain, Argentina and Chile. Additionally, he has completed international academic stays to study major Pride events in cities such as London, Bristol, Belfast, Brighton and Manchester, making him a recognised voice in analysing the social and community impact of these initiatives.
The grand finale of the programme will take place on Saturday, 4th July, at the Paseo Vista Alegre, with a major public party featuring music, performances and shows from 8:30 pm until the early hours of the morning.
The evening will open with a musical set by DJ Bimba del Bar and will continue with performances by Bloody Mary and Lexi Fox, Diana Queen, Kitty del Antro, Chloe Vittu, Sobervia Malibú and Paula Muñoz and Brian Sessarego, finishing with a closing set by DJ Bimba del Bar.
This grand celebration aims to be an open, participatory and inclusive meeting space where residents and visitors can enjoy a night dedicated to freedom, diversity and respect. With this programme, Torrevieja reinforces its commitment to defending human rights, equal opportunities and recognising diversity as a fundamental value for harmony.
