In just a few days, La Nucia will once again transform its historic old town into an authentic mediaeval setting for the twentieth edition of the Mediaeval Market, which will take place on 10th, 11th and 12th July. The event will also serve to commemorate the 321st anniversary of the Carta Pobla of La Nucia, an anniversary that turns the municipality into a meeting point for history, craftsmanship and tradition every year.
During the three days, the old town will remain pedestrianised to immerse residents and visitors in an atmosphere inspired by the Middle Ages. The Major, Santa Teresa, Sant Josep and Sant Antoni squares, along with the adjacent streets, will be adorned with careful thematic decoration to recreate the atmosphere of the era.
From 18.00 hours until past midnight, the Mediaeval Market will offer a route through different spaces where craftsmanship and entertainment will share the spotlight in one of the most established events on the summer calendar in La Nucia.
More than forty signature craft stalls
The programme includes the installation of more than 40 signature craft stalls, where the artisans themselves will put up for sale exclusively pieces made by their own hands.
The market will gather a wide representation of traditional trades, including ceramics and pottery, traditional forging, wood carving and marquetry, handcrafted jewellery, soaps and natural products and handmade toys. In addition, several of the participants will perform live demonstrations of their working techniques and will craft their creations in front of the public.
Shows and activities to recreate the medieval atmosphere
The entertainment will once again be one of the great attractions of the Medieval Market of La Nucia. Throughout the three days, there will be combat exhibitions, a medieval camp, archery workshops, musical parades, street theatre performances, fire shows, jugglers and dance exhibitions.
With this programme, La Nucia will once again recreate the atmosphere of the Middle Ages in the very heart of the municipality, offering a three-day proposal that combines craftsmanship, tradition and shows around the commemoration of the Carta Pobla.
