Another nautical tragedy has occurred in Javea after a 30-year-old woman from Denia lost her life when she was run over by a boat she had rented with friends. Initial information indicates that the victim died after the vessel’s propeller severed her femoral artery.
The young woman was rushed to the port of Javea where she received emergency medical attention from the Red Cross and a SAMU paramedic team. Despite their efforts to stop the haemorrhage and revive her, she could not be saved.
According to reports, the group of friends had hired the boat in Denia and sailed over to Javea. It appears they were towing a donut-shaped inflatable behind the vessel with several passengers on board. The inflatable overturned off the coast of the bay of Javea, and when the boat turned around to pick up those who had fallen into the water, the propeller passed over the young woman.
The Guardia Civil are currently investigating the specific details surrounding the fatal accident. Scenes of immense grief were witnessed at the Javea dockside among the companions of the victim.
This is not the first time such a tragedy has occurred along the Javea coastline. In August last year, a 34-year-old woman died in a similar incident after falling into the sea and being run over by the yacht on which she was sailing.
