The famous Cirque du Soleil is officially on its way to Alicante. Just a single day after wrapping up their final performance in Málaga, the company’s first trucks have been spotted travelling along the motorway near Lorca, in Murcia. The vehicles are carrying technical material, structures and equipment, all heading towards San Juan Beach.
This massive travelling operation is leaving Málaga to relocate to Alicante, where the company will be set up for more than a month. They are bringing ‘Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities’, which is one of the highly anticipated major shows scheduled for the city this summer.
Over the coming hours and days, a steady stream of vehicles will continue to arrive at the site on Avenida de la Costa Blanca. This is where the Canadian company will assemble the entire infrastructure required for the performances. The Alicante premiere of ‘Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities’ is scheduled for 16th July, and the run of shows will continue until 23rd August.
The movement of these initial trucks marks the start of a large-scale logistical operation. The entire Cirque du Soleil setup travels from city to city, allowing workers to rebuild the venue that will welcome thousands of spectators at San Juan Beach in just a matter of days.
The most visible phase of the setup will take place this Friday, when more than 100 people will help raise the grand big top. The impressive structure will have a seating capacity for around 2,500 people, reaching a height of 19 metres and featuring four 25-metre masts.
