A man is facing a potential prison sentence of six years and ten months following accusations of sexual abuse and theft in Torrevieja. The events date back to 3rd February 2022, when the defendant and the victim initially met at a nightlife venue in Torrevieja before agreeing to head back to his home.
According to the Public Prosecutor, once they arrived at the property, the pair lay down on the sofa, where the woman eventually fell asleep. The prosecution alleges that the defendant took advantage of this situation to steal 700 euro from inside her purse.
At approximately 7:00 am, the woman woke up abruptly. The prosecution states she startled awake upon realising that the man was subjecting her to non-consensual touching and other sexual practices.
The victim managed to break free from the defendant and fled the residence, which was when she discovered that her money had been stolen. The prosecution is provisionally seeking a total sentence of six years and ten months in prison for the distinct offences of sexual abuse and theft. The trial is scheduled to take place at the Elche branch of the Provincial Court.
