The Guardia Civil is investigating the discovery of a body showing signs of violence inside a property in the exclusive and luxurious La Veleta residential area in Torrevieja. The alarm was raised at approximately 2:00 pm yesterday, Friday 10th July, by the home owner, who reported finding a bloodied and decomposing body lying in the patio area. Following the emergency report, the Guardia Civil mobilised officers to the scene.
The grim discovery occurred hours before the Spanish national football team was scheduled to play a match, following a separate violent incident in Alicante just a week prior, where a man killed his wife and daughter on the day of another match against Austria.

Sources close to the investigation have confirmed that police have already made an arrest in connection with the case. The judicial commission subsequently arrived at the villa and authorised the removal of the body, which was then transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Alicante.
The La Veleta residential area, situated south of Torrevieja and very close to the municipality of Orihuela, is located on the beachfront and is characterised by single-family homes and apartment blocks built between the 1990s and 2000s.
A Spanish man reportedly inhabits the property, and his brother, a co-owner, frequently visits the residence. By Friday afternoon, after the security forces had departed, the house where the incident took place was securely locked, with a vehicle parked inside the grounds. The property is reportedly inhabited by a Spanish man, and his brother, who is a co-owner, visits the residence frequently. Although the incident occurred in the middle of July, most of the surrounding properties on the narrow street, located between the coastline and Avenida Desiderio Rodríguez, remain uninhabited, with several villas currently up for sale, under renovation, or closed up.
