The Calpe Local Police has officially welcomed 13 new officers to its ranks to bolster safety across the municipality during the busy summer season. The group includes seven officers who have taken up permanent positions after successfully completing their training at the Valencian Institute of Public Safety and Emergencies (IVASPE), alongside six additional officers who requested a transfer to serve in Calpe.
Plaza Mediterráneo hosted the official presentation of the new recruits on Friday, 10th June, where municipal leaders also unveiled a series of special measures designed to reinforce security over the summer months. Notable additions to the summer deployment include the launch of a semi-rigid boat to intensify surveillance along the coastline and the introduction of bicycle patrols along the promenades, aimed at providing a closer and more agile service to both residents and tourists.
Throughout the season, the auxiliary Local Police station located in Plaza Mediterráneo, next to La Fossa beach, will remain fully operational to improve response times and public assistance in the area. This site also houses the Maritime Surveillance and Intervention Unit (UVIM), where officers can process complaints, manage lost property and provide information to members of the public.

The event featured a flight demonstration by the Local Police Air Unit (UMAC), which was established two years ago and consists of four officers trained in operating unmanned aircraft. This specialised unit provides vital support in public safety, surveillance at major events, missing person searches and fire prevention. In recent days, coinciding with increased risks from high temperatures, the UMAC has stepped up its preventive surveillance flights to monitor for forest fires.
The presentation was led by the Mayor of Calpe, Ana Sala, the Councillor for Public Safety, Guillermo Sendra, and the Chief Superintendent of the Local Police, Sergio Lozano, who reviewed the new officers and toured the auxiliary station facilities.
Welcoming the new arrivals, Councillor Guillermo Sendra publicly praised the dedication of the local force during the holiday period. He noted that the addition of these 13 officers represents a significant reinforcement for a municipality that sees its population multiply during the summer. He expressed his gratitude for the professionalism and extraordinary effort made by the men and women of the Local Police to ensure Calpe remains a safe destination and a benchmark for quality public services.
