Emergency services have rescued a woman showing symptoms of drowning on Tabarca Island this afternoon, later airlifting her to Elche for urgent medical treatment.
The Provincial Firefighters Consortium reported that the victim, a woman aged around 60, required immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) manoeuvres after being found semi-conscious.
Once initial emergency healthcare assistance was administered on the island, she was flown by helicopter from Tabarca Island to the regional fire station in Elche. An ambulance was waiting at the fire station to transport the patient directly to the General Hospital of Elche.
Emergency teams received the initial alert at 14:50 yesterday, Monday 20th July, and the entire rescue intervention was concluded by 17:20.
