Firefighters from the Alicante Provincial Consortium rescued a 27-year-old man on Tuesday after he became unwell while hiking along a route on Montgo mountain, located in the municipality of Javea.
The emergency alert was received at 11.55 am yesterday, 21st July. The hiker was displaying symptoms of exhaustion and dehydration, along with a tingling sensation in his feet, leaving him completely unable to stand. Several companions initially attempted to help him walk down the mountain, but they could not continue due to the young man’s physical condition and the difficult ground access to the area.
Faced with these conditions, the consortium dispatched a rescue helicopter and members of the Special Rescue Group (GER). After locating the hiker, rescuers descended to his location to deliver initial aid and assist in his recovery. Following a check of his condition, emergency personnel accompanied him on foot to an accessible point where a Basic Life Support ambulance unit was waiting. The hiker received medical attention at the location, and no injuries were reported.
The emergency response ended at 1.19 pm and involved the rescue helicopter, the GER crew, and a unit from the Javea fire station composed of a corporal and three firefighters.
