Officers from the Local Police in Orihuela arrested a man last week after he allegedly injured a woman with a firearm and assaulted another person. The suspect was tracked down inside a vehicle as he attempted to flee the city.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, 21st July, in the San Isidro neighbourhood of Orihuela. Officers responded to an alert regarding gunshots and, upon arriving at the scene, confirmed that a woman had sustained a gunshot wound and another individual had been assaulted.
A large police operation was deployed immediately to secure the area and establish checkpoints to prevent the suspect’s escape. Local Police officers successfully located and detained the man inside a car while he was trying to leave Orihuela.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the National Police, who are conducting the investigation. The Local Police praised the rapid action of the officers, stating it was decisive in preventing even more serious consequences, while also highlighting the effective coordination with the National Police.
