A motorcyclist was injured yesterday morning, Wednesday 22nd July, during a rush hour traffic accident on Avenida Dénia in Alicante, resulting in significant delays.
The incident took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. as the rider headed towards Alicante. According to municipal sources, the motorcyclist struck the curb on Avenida Dénia and slid for about fifteen metres before coming to a stop between the roadway and the median strip. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by the local police.
Involving no other vehicles, the collision happened past the intersection with Avenida de la Albufereta. An ambulance from the SAMU Emergency Medical Service alongside a Basic Life Support ambulance attended the scene, where paramedics treated the motorcyclist who was lying on the road.
Initial findings gathered by the local police indicate that the driver momentarily lost consciousness while riding, leading to the loss of control of the motorcycle. Emergency response efforts required the temporary closure of two lanes on Dénia Avenue, creating substantial traffic queues for motorists travelling towards the centre of Alicante.
Later in the morning, the local police in Alicante also restricted traffic on Avenida Albufereta heading towards the beaches following a separate incident involving a driver who suffered a heart attack behind the wheel.
